FOLIAR FEEDS & FERTILISERS

Healthy happy plants

Wondering what to feed your garden? Plants need the right nutrients to thrive. Healthy plants are happy plants.

Getting fertiliser right

Go to the garden centre and you will see many different kinds of fertiliser. What should you use and when?

Different plants have different requirements but they do have things in common. They all benefit from being fed the right things at the right time. We use organic methods and our general approach is to use compost and natural fertilisers to give plants what they need.

Getting the balance right

It’s pretty complicated for humans to get the balance right so we focus on working with nature to do the job for us.

Get it right and you will have strong healthy plants which thrive. And healthy plants are less likely to have problems (provided they are living in the right situation).

Foliar feed

We foliar feed. That means regularly spraying the leaves with a natural fertiliser.

Apparently, it’s 20x more efficient for plants to take up nutrients via their leaves than their roots. Bear in mind though that foliar feeding should supplement, not substitute, feeding the roots. We use liquid seaweed or comfrey tea which we make ourselves.

Foliar-feeding

Feeding plants via their leaves, foliar feeding, is an efficient way to get nutrients where they need to be. In this video we talk about the basics of foliar feeding. On our clients properties we use comfrey tea which we have brewed ourselves and liquid seaweed as a supplementary feed. It strengthens the plants, reducing issues and helping the plants thrive.
