Planting

Plant successfully. Right plant. Right place. Right time.

Planting is as easy as digging a hole and popping a plant in it, right? Not necessarily. To be successful a plant needs to grow in the right conditions.

Helping plants thrive

Plants need the right conditions to thrive.

For example, a wisteria needs full sun for the best floral display, roses planted in winter shouldn’t have compost in the hole, putting compost in a planting hole in winter can cause rot etc.

It’s about putting plants in the right place at the right time of year and making sure they get what they need to thrive.

When to plant

Did you know Autumn is a great time of year to plant shrubs?

Most people think you only plant in Spring but planting in Autumn allows the plants to get a head start; establishing roots and creating a launching pad for next year’s growth.
